What other country, when attacked in an unprovoked aggression across a recognized international frontier, is then put on a countdown clock by the world, given a limited time window in which to fight back, regardless of whether it has restored its own security?
What other country sustains 1,500 indiscriminate rocket attacks into its cities — every one designed to kill, maim and terrorize civilians — and is then vilified by the world when it tries to destroy the enemy’s infrastructure and strongholds with precision-guided munitions that sometimes have the unintended but unavoidable consequence of collateral civilian death and suffering? . . . I totally agree with you! It seems that only the US and Canadian leaders are defending Israel and the rest of the world is clueless about the attacks against Israel.
Krauthammer really does not understand the world at all. All nations that kill innocent civilians come under condemnation, including Israel and the United States.
It is false for him to say that Hezbollah, Syria, Iran, etc. have not come under condemnation. Plenty have. Right now, however, Israel’s response is not working in their desired goals, and the more civilians killed, the worse it is for Israel.
Can Americans, who back Israel, even consider peace? My pessimistic cynical self tells me no, and that more wars are coming at the hands of Americans and their allies. Meanwhile, more wars are coming from the enemies of America. How sad.
Dan, have you always been a “pessimistic cynical self”?
Ever since this madness began, yes. I’d like to think Americans are better than this, but the evidence is overwhelmingly negative at this point.
