Nasa proceeds with shuttle launch
Nasa will keep to its Tuesday launch schedule for the shuttle Discovery despite finding a defect in insulation foam lining the orbiter’s fuel tank.
A small triangle of material was seen to flake away from the giant orange container during a routine vehicle check on Monday.
Engineers say they will continue to analyse the issue but do not currently consider it to be a serious problem.
Discovery’s third attempt at a lift-off is timed for 1438 EDT (1838 GMT).
Two countdowns at the weekend had to be scrubbed because of stormy weather around the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
