  1. Although this is only my 19th year as a church member, I have been in the military for 32 years. During my most recent deployment to Afghanistan (2005) I was actually able to attend Sacrament meeting most Sundays. We were a tight-knit branch, mostly Army soldiers and a few Air Force airmen. Occasionally our Gospel Doctrine insructor had to leave early to fly on gunship raids on Al Queda sites in the mountains. WE logged 23 rescue missions and almost as many saves in that tour.
While those of you back home were praying for us, we were praying for our families back home.
One of the most memorable moments came when our outgoing Branch leader read a letter from the first presidency. Apparently Elder Boyd K Packer hand carries the names of all deployed members with him to the Thursday meeting and are included on the prayer roll. Now that’s life insurance!

  2. God bless you, Paul, and ThankYouVeryMuch for your service to our country.
